Recommended Second-Look Reclamation Specification for Recycling Post Consumer Vinyl Wallcovering
Please be aware you are responsible for the accuracy of all project specifications, including specification for reclamation of material and specification of Second-Look Recycled Wallcovering.

SECTION 01 74 19 CONSTRUCTION WASTE MANAGEMENT and DISPOSAL
RECLAMATION OF POST CONSUMER VINYL WALLCOVERING
PART 1- GENERAL
1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS
Drawings and general conditions of Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Divisions, Specification sections apply to work of this section.

- 1.3 DEFINITIONS
- A. Second Look Reclamation: LSI Wallcovering
- B. Contractor: Entity responsible for removal, and placement of vinyl wallcovering into approved containers
- C. Common Carrier: Independent carrier utilized by LSI for delivery of containers of recycled wallcovering to LSI facility.
- 1. 4 SUBMITTALS
- A. 8”x10” sample from job site, along with LSI form, to be submitted to LSI for approval before demolition.
- B. Letter will be sent upon receipt of approved recycled material to designated contractor, or architect for LEED requirement.
- 1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE
- A. Applicable LEED Credits: Meet the performance requirements for the following LEED Environmental Categories and Credits as indicated.
- 1. Category 2.1: Material and Resources (MR), Construction Waste Management
- 2. Category 2.2: Material and Resources (MR), Construction Waste Management
- B. A LSI representative must approve the vinyl wallcovering material for reclamation.
- C. Approved vinyl wallcovering shall include:
- 1. Any brand of fabric-backed vinyl wallcovering
- 2. Any trim or scrap from installation of new wallcovering
- D. Wallcovering materials that are not acceptable include:
- 1. Any fabric wallcovering
- 2. Paper wallcovering
- 3. Vinyl wallcovering that has been painted
- 4. Vinyl wallcovering that has not been approved by LSI Wallcovering.
- 5. Moldy vinyl wallcovering
- 6. Wallcovering that is wet with adhesive
- E. Coordination of Work: Coordinate vinyl wallcovering removal with contractors doing related work on the job site
- 1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
- A. Vinyl wallcovering being reclaimed may not have come into contact with, or in any way contain hazardous materials, or other waste, including metal of any kind.
- B. Wallcovering material reclaimed must be dry, and free from any debris.
- PART 2- PRODUCTS
- Not used
PART 3-EXECUTION
- 3.1 RECLAMATION PROCEDURE
- A. Contractor shall remove vinyl wallcovering to be recycled from the wall.
- B. Submit only approved vinyl wallcovering/see directions on container
- C. Approved material to be placed in clear poly bags sent to contractor if quantity is less than 300 yards, or in shipping container for larger quantities, to be supplied by LSI to the contractor.
- D. LSI representative shall help determine how many containers or bags will be required to hold material, and arrange to have them sent to appropriate location.
- E. LSI representative shall help coordinate freight return with contractor and our distributor by common carrier to our recycling facility.
